My first (and not last) Shediac Lobster Festival!

I'm slowly learning my way around "speaking engagements" to share Lucy's story near and far! Last week, I had the pleasure of appearing at the Shediac Lobster Festival.

I spent an hour sharing Lucy's story and her rise to stardom with a small but completely engaged audience of all ages. I was particularly thrilled to meet a pair of siblings named Lucy and Bearington - honest to God, those were their names!

Afterwards, I ventured into the fair grounds for a quick look-see ... my days of amusement rides are long over but I was in awe of all the lobster-inspired love to be found amongst the vendors and special stages elsewhere!

I got in a quick visit with my friend, Chef Alain Bosse (The Kilted Chef) before he took to the stage to teach kids all about lobsters.

And I couldn't resist a sit-down in the biggest lobster trap I've ever seen - the onside restaurant for the festival with a menu that left me taking a looong time to make up my mind! In the end, I opted for the pizza and the lobster macaroni salad ... and was not disappointed.

In the end, I opted for the pizza and the lobster mac-n-cheese ... and was not disappointed!!
After polling some festival attendees, I decided to take a drive through the town to sample a couple of lobster rolls at some local establishments. Lenny's Takeout might specialize in fried chicken, but I gotta say their lobster roll was pretty tasty - and it just so happens it is the weekly special of the day on Thursdays - $15.95 for a roll and fries. It might have been a tad "wetter" than I prefer but it was seasoned well and the single piece of lettuce was acceptable. The bun itself was toasted with some garlic butter and was delicious!

I can never resist heading towards the water whenever I find myself exploring a new town and lots of signage pointed to the Pointe-du-Chêne Wharf. It was obviously a "tourist attraction" with several food establishments, a few souvenir shops and tour operators but I was kinda suprised by the $4 "toll" that had to be paid to access the wharf. Oh well, when in Shediac ....
I believe it was kismet that drew me to the wharf and in particular Captain Dan's Bar & Grill. Not only did they have 4 lobster rolls to choose from (plus lobster tacos), but one of those rolls was called The Donna! It was meant to be - a traditional style lobster roll that wasn't all that bad. Too much lettuce for my liking but there was no way I could NOT have that particular roll as I raised it in a silent sociable to my lobster-loving pal Donna Hatt (aka Miss Donna in Lucy the Lob'STAR).

Thank you Shediac for letting me indulge in my love of lobster ... I'll be back!
